System administrator

AlexHost is seeking a skilled and experienced System Administrator to join our team. As a System Administrator, you will play a crucial role in providing technical support to our clients, ensuring smooth server operations, and maintaining the overall stability and security of our hosting infrastructure.

Responsibilities:

1. Technical Support: Provide prompt and efficient technical support to clients, addressing their server-related inquiries, issues, and concerns via various communication channels (e.g., ticketing system, email, live chat).

2. Server Assembly and Maintenance: Assemble and configure server hardware, ensuring proper functionality and compatibility with the hosting environment. Conduct routine maintenance, upgrades, and troubleshooting to optimize server performance.

3. Linux/Unix and Windows Administration: Administer and maintain Linux/Unix and Windows-based servers, including installation, configuration, patch management, and security hardening. Monitor system resources, analyze logs, and implement proactive measures to ensure stable and secure server operations.

4. Network Management: Manage network infrastructure, including IP allocation, DNS configuration, firewall setup, and network troubleshooting. Collaborate with network engineers to maintain optimal network performance and implement security measures.

5. Security and Compliance: Implement and enforce security best practices and policies to protect server infrastructure and client data. Stay updated with the latest security vulnerabilities and proactively apply necessary patches and updates.

6. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of server configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides. Generate reports on server performance, resource utilization, and incident resolution.

Requirements:

1. Experience:1-2 years of professional experience as a System Administrator or in a similar role is a plus, preferably in a web hosting environment.

2. Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in Linux/Unix and Windows server administration.
- Strong knowledge of server hardware assembly, configuration, and troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with networking concepts, protocols, and security practices.
- Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) is a plus.
- Understanding of backup and disaster recovery principles.

3. Problem-solving and Troubleshooting: Ability to identify and resolve complex server-related issues efficiently and effectively. Strong analytical skills to troubleshoot and diagnose problems at various layers of the server stack.

4. Communication and Customer Service: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical clients in a clear and concise manner. Customer-centric approach with a focus on delivering exceptional support.

5. Organization and Time Management: Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks, prioritize workload, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

6. Certifications: Relevant certifications such as Linux Professional Institute Certification (LPIC), Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA), or similar certifications are advantageous.
